Village on the St. Clair residents and staff are seen here with members of the Preceptor Chi sorority, which donated a large gift of games Sept. 5.

One of the ways Steeves & Rozema seniors living communities build connections is by inviting local groups and organizations to use their activity rooms to host regular meetings. On Sept. 5, the residents of Village on the St. Clair received a large donation of games and puzzles from the Preceptor Chi sorority, which meets twice a month at the Sarnia seniors living community.

The women of the sorority presented the games to residents as a token of gratitude. The donation included new playing cards, Rummikub, Farkle, Left Center Right, chess, checkers and a variety pack of puzzles.

“(The donation) came at a good time, as we have recently had a renovation done in our home, and our new space has been dubbed the ‘games room’ by the residents,” Village on the St. Clair fun co-ordinator Natalie Pereira tells S&R Today.

“They spend several hours every evening playing games, such as Scrabble and Rummikub, and there is always a puzzle going.”

Natalie says residents are grateful to the sorority for the donation, adding they are looking forward to playing the games and working on the puzzles.

“This was a feel-good evening for everyone – the ladies enjoy our activity room, and we in turn get to enjoy their generous gift,” Natalie says, noting Village on the St. Clair values its longstanding partnership with the sorority.

“They are a wonderful group of ladies that have consistently told us how much they enjoy using our space,” she says.
