Lanark Heights residents are seen here packaging the 230 “reindeer cookies.”

Residents and the management team at Lanark Heights recently collaborated to make some “sweet” gifts for front-line team members at the Kitchener long-term care community.

A group of five residents packaged special “reindeer cookies.” The cookies will be handed out at the staff Christmas party on Dec. 18.

The residents packed 230 cookies, which are made with cranberries, oatmeal and white chocolate chips, into jars, sealed them and tied the jars with special tags.

The tags read: “To our team members and your families we send thankful thoughts and well wishes, happy holidays, we appreciate your devoted service.”

“We (residents and staff members) want to thank (staff members) for all the work that they do,” says Debra Mann, the manager of resident services at Lanark Heights.

She adds that the project was the first Christmas activity this year for the residents, so everyone made the most of it.

“We even had the Christmas music going to help with the Christmas cheer,” she says.
