The Steeves & Rozema Group has announced eight recipients of the organization’s scholarship program for the 2020-21 academic year. The students have each received $500 to put towards their post-secondary education.

Steeves & Rozema offers six scholarships most years, but given the high number and quality of applications received this year, the organization decided to award two additional scholarships, explains S&R human resources administrative assistant Marci Breault.

“There were so many wonderful, qualified candidates we wanted to add two extra scholarships this year,” she says.

The scholarships are awarded annually to children, step-children and grandchildren of Steeves & Rozema team members.

This year’s recipients are:

- Radwan Ahmed, son of Lanark Heights registered practical nurse Sheika Ali
- Koral Boucher, step-daughter of Trillium Villa staffing co-ordinator Candice Knight
- Joryn Howie, daughter of Wayne Howie, master electrician for S&R Properties Division
- Amy Llancari, daughter of Eduarte Llancari, environmental services worker at Heron Terrace
- Jessica Mummery, daughter of Rose Mummery, personal support worker at Heron Terrace
- Haley Murray, daughter of Ian Murray, executive director at the Village on the Thames
- Susana Ochoa Garrido, daughter of Nicolasa Garrido Romero, environmental services worker at Lanark Heights
- Margaret Stoesser, daughter of Beth Stoesser, registered nurse at Trillium Villa

The Steeves & Rozema Group scholarship program was launched in 2011. More than 60 scholarships have been awarded since. The program also aligns with Steeves & Rozema’s mission of “creating communities that are good for life.”

The scholarships are awarded to children and grandchildren of Steeves & Rozema team members who are 25 and younger and studying at an accredited post-secondary institution.

Those seeking to apply must have proof of enrolment to an accredited post-secondary institution or program. Applicants can be in any year of their study as long as they fall under the age requirements.

Scholarship winners are also invited to the Annual Awards Celebration at Steeves & Rozema’s head office, held in April each year.

Qualifying applicants may submit their applications annually and are eligible to receive the award twice during their schooling.
