Team member shares how Village on the St. Clair has been a great place to grow
Lindsay Weston says personal connections at the village have created a supportive working environment

Village on the St. Clair team member Lindsay Weston recalls how her son was getting ready to graduate Grade 8 in June and there was lots to do to help him get ready for his big day.
Feeling a bit overwhelmed at the time, one of Lindsay's colleagues at the Sarnia senior living community, Teresa Randall, stepped in and offered to help get her son's graduation outfit ready.
“I wouldn't have been able to do it by myself,” Lindsay says. “Teresa helped me get everything ready, and ironed it all for him. I was having trouble with the material of the graduation outfit and it was very finicky, but Teresa came to me and offered to take care of everything and ironed it all perfectly.”
Teresa says she was happy to help – it was important to her that Lindsay's son had a memorable graduation.
“I watched her children grow up; as you can tell we are very connected,” Teresa says.
Lindsay says it's this type of supportive environment, one where team members feel like they're a part of a large family, that makes working at the Village on the St. Clair special.
Lindsay joined the Village on the St. Clair team in 2014 when she took a position as a dietary aide. She had been working at another home as a personal support worker (PSW) and was looking for a fresh opportunity and decided to apply to the village.
“I dropped off my resume and got a call to come in for an interview the next day and I got hired,” she says.
Two years after she started at the village, Lindsay was promoted to PSW, and in 2022 she became a full-time unregulated care provider (UCP).
Asked what advice she would offer people interested in a career at the Village on the St. Clair, Lindsay says compassion is at the top of the list.
“Some people know what they want and some don't, but to thrive here you need to be compassionate,” she says.
