Although spring is well underway, it wasn't until recently that cool, wet and grey weather gave way to blue skies and sunshine, and the residents and team members at the Village on the Thames wanted to do something to celebrate.
So, on May 16, the Chatham-Kent seniors living community hosted its Spring Fling and Toonie Pub Day, which saw residents enjoy a variety of food and drink while relaxing to entertainment provided by local musician Eugene R. Tremblay.
“It was his first time coming to our home since COVID, (and) he had a great time performing for the residents,” Village on the Thames fun co-ordinator Diamond Zelina tells S&R Today, adding some residents have known Eugene for many years.
“The residents really seemed to enjoy his singing and his guitar playing.”
In preparing for the event, team members adorned the first-floor activity room with bright decorations to add to the festive spirit of the day.
Residents and team members were also encouraged to celebrate the sunshine by wearing colourful clothing and accessories, such as shorts, sandals, sunglasses and funky hats.
“It was an all around amazing time,” Diamond says. “The residents really got into the spirit of the day – they enjoy having a good time with each other.”
