Landmark Village hosts first 'senior social' with fashion show
Residents and prospective residents enjoy style, fun and a taste of community life

Landmark Village recently hosted a fashion show where residents and team members modelled the latest designer clothes while giving prospective residents a glimpse into life at the Sarnia seniors living community.
The S&R Group's seniors living communities have started hosting “senior socials” each month. These fun, engaging events introduce prospective residents to life in S&R Villages. The fashion show was the first of these events at Landmark Village.
The socials also provide opportunities for future residents to meet current residents, explains Landmark Village activity manager Brent Hart.
“This was our first (senior social), and we chose to hold a fashion show – we were lucky enough to have Marilyn Chappelle of Marcanda Gifts, Tea Room & Boutique provide the clothing for the show,” Brent tells S&R Today.
Residents and team members who served as models during the show went to the boutique, located in nearby Wyoming, the week before to select the clothes they wanted to model and to be fitted, Brent adds.
During the fashion show, beverages and charcuterie cups were handed out to all those in attendance to enjoy.
Brent says the August seniors social accomplished its goals of engaging prospective residents and providing them with a taste of the type of events Landmark Village offers.
“It was a great success, with a big thank-you to Marilyn for taking on the fashion aspect,” Brent says, adding that Landmark Village residents will soon be taking an outing to the boutique's tea room for lunch and shopping.
Landmark Village's next seniors social will be later in September and will be a party with a “farewell to summer” theme.
