Annual strawberry social a hit at St. Andrew's Terrace

One of St. Andrew's Terrace's flagship summer events made its sweet return recently.
This year's strawberry social drew a large crowd of family members and friends, who joined residents and team members at the Cambridge, Ont., long-term care community to enjoy fresh strawberries served in a variety of delicious treats, Dana Blaber says.
“Every year we invite families and friends to join us for our strawberry social. This year we had about 60 family members and friends join us,” Dana, the St. Andrew's Terrace life enrichment manager, tells S&R Today.
Before the event, residents helped the life enrichment team prepare for the social. They washed and cut eight flats of strawberries that morning, “without eating a single one,” Dana notes, adding, “they were very proud.”
Once the strawberries were prepared, team members used them to make strawberry shortcake topped with ice cream and whipped cream, as well as strawberry punch that everyone enjoyed.
Live music was provided by Manon Luxenburg, “who serenaded us with songs while we enjoyed time with loved ones,” Dana says.
Dana is crediting life enrichment team members for their hard work and dedication to make this year's strawberry social extra special for residents and guests.
“The life enrichment team worked so hard putting this event together, and it was such a magical time,” she says.
“I am so proud of the team.”
