Landmark Village’s kitchen and dining room staff members lived up to their reputation as a top-notch culinary team in Sarnia during National Volunteer Week, when the retirement community hosted one and catered to two volunteer appreciation luncheons for local agencies.
Members of Landmark Village’s kitchen team prepared and served the meals and did an excellent job, says Tania Bergen, Landmark Village’s social and marketing director.
For the fourth consecutive year, the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) Sarnia-Lambton District volunteer appreciation luncheon was held at Landmark Village. The home hosted and served a sandwich-and-salad buffet lunch to 25 volunteers from the VON on April 25.
The afternoon included a meal, guest speakers and then attendees were invited on a tour of Landmark Village to showcase everything the home offers, which is always important, Tania says.
“Some (VON volunteers) cater to our residents as well (for) home visits and things like that, and we want to get them familiar with our building, so when they’re out in the community, they can speak of their experiences here at Landmark,” Tania says.
The Landmark Village kitchen team also prepared a sandwich-and-salad buffet that was served at the annual Volunteer Coordinators’ Association of Sarnia-Lambton’s volunteer appreciation dinner. This event was held April 27 at the St. Clair Corporate Centre, which also houses the Steeves & Rozema Group’s head office.
The Landmark Village kitchen team caters this meal each year and Steeves & Rozema donates space in its Gateway Room for the event.
April 23-29 was National Volunteer Week 2017. The week was marked by events nationwide that celebrate volunteers and all they do to enrich the lives of others. This year marked the 76th National Volunteer Week.
