For the 11th consecutive year, the Steeves & Rozema Group has won an award for its float entry in the Sarnia Kinsmen Christmas Parade of Lights. This is the third straight year Steeves & Rozema has won the prize for best commercial float.

The Steeves & Rozema team’s entry for this year’s parade, which was held on Dec. 2, focused on the princesses in Disney films. Several characters – including Snow White; Sleeping Beauty; Beauty and the Beast (featuring Steeves & Rozema CEO John Scotland dressed as “the beast”); Elsa and Anna; Jasmine and Tinkerbell – all made an appearance to wish the people of Sarnia a merry Christmas.

Designing and building a float each year has become an important part of the Steeves & Rozema culture. As with every year, a strong team effort made this year’s entry a success. This year’s float entry was made possible by large-scale support from Steeves & Rozema team members, their families and friends. More than 40 people volunteered their time to make this year’s entry a winner.

The “Disney princess float” featured more than 5,000 lights and took more than 250 volunteer hours to complete. A creative and dedicated group of team members worked many evenings and on weekends in the weeks leading up to the parade to bring the float to life.

“There is definitely a lot Christmas spirit in this family-owned company, and this is a great way to show and share it with everyone in the community,” the Steeves & Rozema team said in a statement.

Steeves & Rozema also won the award for best commercial design in the 2016 parade for its float based on the animated film Finding Dory. In 2015, the team took the honours for best commercial float for a design based on the computer-animated movie Minions.

This is the 15th consecutive year Steeves & Rozema has participated in the Sarnia Kinsmen Christmas Parade of Lights.
